Our Staff

Matt Carter, CPT, NCSA, Owner

Born and raised in Milford, Delaware, Matt attended Milford High School where he began to develop an interest in physical fitness through his participation in football, track and various water sports. He was accepted into Salisbury University his freshman year where he played football, but then transferred to Fort Lewis College, graduating with a BS in Exercise Science with concentrations in Fitness/Leisure and Coaching.

While Matt had participated in numerous traditional sports as a teenager, the mountains, rivers and woods in the college town of Durango, Colorado introduced him to a wide array of adventure sports such as rock climbing, biking, kayaking, winter/desert camping, and Search and Rescue.

Upon graduation Matt returned to Delaware and started his first business, Rocks, Rims & Rapids, which involved climbing, biking, kayaking, and outdoor personal training.  That venture quickly evolved into his present business, Quest Fitness and Kayak.

Erin Wilkinson, CPT, Lead Trainer

Erin Wilkinson is originally from Fairfax, Virginia. After graduating from Shepherd University with a Bachelors degree in Sociology, she moved to Delaware four years ago to live closer to the beach. Fitness has always been the number one priority in her life - she grew up with a soccer ball attached to her foot.  Erin was introduced to the sport when she was four years old but had to wait untill she was five to play on the local pee wee team.  Soccer became her life through college.  She learned many important life traits from playing-determination, discipline, and all the positive benefits of working out.  Erin enjoys passing these traits along to her clients at Quest Fitness, where she has been a personal trainer for the past two years. She has always had a passion for fitness and teaching, and at Quest she can accomplish both! Erin is also a certified Youth Fitness Instructor/Trainer, and certified Instructor for “Fit & Fab” and “Girls on a Move” aerobic classes for girls.

Elaine Dernoga, Spin Instructor

Elaine obtained her SPIN® certification through Mad Dogg Athletics, Inc., the creators of the Spinning® program, in February 2008.  Elaine’s personal obsession with spinning inspired her to obtain her certification so that she could encourage and motivate others to achieve fitness success through Spinning. Elaine’s classes are centered around the heart rate energy zones to help one burn fat, build endurance, strengthen and tone muscles, and improve overall cardiovascular health.  Heart rate monitors are not required but are highly recommended to help individuals achieve their fitness goals.   Elaine hopes you join her soon to experience the true mind-body experience of the ride -- as you visualize and simulate true road conditions during her classes, watch your body transform.

Out of the Mouths of Our Members:

"I love this place (Quest).  Matt, the owner, is never satisfied so he's always improving on the physical components of the gym.  The trainers and instructors are great, they really keep up on things so the members get the benefit of the latest exercise trends.  In general everyone just cares and that's what always differentiates the average places of business from the outstanding ones."
